  1. APC backup vs normal surge protector for modem/router

Case in piont.

  • I installed a APC surge for my modem and router.
  • The sound went from a bit flat and lush to much better seprationa nd more mid-range clarity, losing a tiny bit warmth. Much better clarity.
  • Swapping the modem on the battery and keeping the router on the generic surge offers a bit of both.
  • With APC noise floor drops dramatically.
  • Without APC sounds more tonally accurate and much more bass weight.
  • Separation is much better with APC and more air and dynamics.

So the goal would be to find the best UPC that matches a local file the closest for my setup. This may change if I change out my router which is ridiculous. The difference is enormous. So if you need battery backup on your router/modem...you might season your system with cables to compenstate fro the lack of warmth and that's fine. I also suspect that different routers will be affected differently by the APC. So basically, if you want the highest fidelity, the only way to get it is to have local music files. Removing my generic surge protector and replacing it with a battery APC.
